A Creative Legacy

From theatre stages to iconic film moments, Femi Taylor’s journey reflects a lifelong dedication to artistry, performance, and storytelling.

Return of the Jedi

The Legacy of Oola

In 1983, Femi Taylor appeared as Oola in Return of the Jedi, creating a character whose impact would far outlive her brief appearance on screen. Oola remains one of the most recognisable and beloved characters in the Star Wars universe.

More than a decade later, George Lucas invited Femi to reprise the role for the Special Edition, making her the only original performer recalled to film new scenes. The return remains a unique chapter in both her career and Star Wars history.

“I never imagined that a role filmed in 1983 would continue to connect me with people across generations and around the world.”

The World of Cats

Before the galaxy, there was the world of Cats. Femi Taylor originated the role of Tantomile in the original 1981 London production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s groundbreaking musical. During the filming of Return of the Jedi, she went on to perform the role of Bombalurina in London before later being invited to join the Melbourne production of Cats.

Her connection to the production came full circle years later when she appeared in the filmed version of Cats, for which the character Exotica was created especially for her by the creative team in recognition of her unique artistry and presence.
